Claire has been a partner at Haverstock since 2006 and is passionate about educational design particularly for disabled children, young people and adults. Claire is committed to the process of consultation to ensure projects generate positive engagement to support exemplar design outcomes and achieve a shared stakeholder solution. Claire has extensive experience of working on schools (children’s centres/primary/secondary/sixth form, specialist schools (SEND/all through/resource provisions/alternative provisions/Pupil Referral Units), colleges, police facilities, offices and residential projects.

Claire has extensive experience of working with local authorities on strategic briefing and planning for large programmes of SEND work. Claire currently works as a technical advisor for the Department for Education and has an in depth understanding of the current SEND requirements and specifications in line with budgetary constraints. Haverstock co-authored Building Bulletin 102: ‘Designing for Special Educational Needs,’ and are also in regular discussion with the DfE on the current Building Bulletin 104 (BB104) and are also in regular discussion with a range of organisations about excellence in design for disabled people.

Claire lectures and tutors on Part 3 Courses across the UK supporting young people at the start of their architectural journey. She is also a Civic Trust Award Judge championing the very best in community and educational design.

David has been a partner at Haverstock since 2006. He has extensive experience of providing architectural design, client design advisor and technical advisor architectural services across all sectors but specifically in special needs. He has vast experience with supported living accommodation projects as well as extensive experience in school design, specialist schools (SEND/all through/resource provisions/alternative provisions/Pupil Referral Units) and colleges, police facilities, offices and residential projects.

David has an in depth understanding of current space standards and specifications in line with funding streams for living and learning settings and is passionate about working with clients to ensure living accommodation supports clients towards an independent life. David has an in-depth understanding of current space standards and DfE specifications in line with funding streams for learning settings including new sustainable targets and Spec21.

David also works as a Technical Advisor for the DfE on Free Schools and PSBP and has an in depth understanding of current space standards and specifications in line with funding streams and seeks to ensure the very best solutions are achieved for end users.

David is exceptionally organised and a strong advocate for quality management within the design and construction process and heads this up in our studio.

Tom Gibb

Tom has been a partner at Haverstock since 2008 after being rated in Building Designs top 100 graduates, obtaining the Foulkes Memorial Prize for outstanding work in the Built Environment and being nominated for the RIBA Presidents Medal.

Tom has worked on a wide range of successful competition entries and award winning projects ranging from private houses, visitor centres, churches, crematoria, transport and police infrastructure, schools, offices and listed buildings.  Tom is an innovative designer committed to high quality architecture. He has a particular interest in Industrial heritage. For a number of years he has been a visiting critic and lecturer and studio tutor at the Welsh School of Architecture in Cardiff.

Tom’s attention to detail and ability to produce clear drawings is exceptional. His approach is pragmatic yet hands on and he firmly believes that the success of a project is bound by people’s inclusion in the process. In this way a level of care and ownership is built.  He is an innovative designer committed to high quality architecture. He has a particular interest in Industrial heritage. For a number of years he has been a visiting critic and lecturer and studio tutor at the Welsh School of Architecture in Cardiff. This has allowed him to continue this passion for tectonic studies at an academic level.

Tom has gained extensive conservation experience over the past five years working with many heritage bodies such as the Heritage Lottery Fund and Historic England and is working towards being a member of the AABC Conservation register. Tom is on the RIBA Awards Jury Chair for East London and is a Civic Trust Award Assessor.
