Often these projects related to congestion relief of other major works which would facilitate the introduction of lifts. These have been undertaken for over twenty stations and three of these projects have now been implemented namely:
– Waterloo
– Finchley Central
– Hendon Central
At Waterloo, the works are underground and negotiating satisfactory fire strategies were central to the solution. Our design reference has been the Jubilee Line Extension works, including the use of the JCE cable management and lighting system. Hendon and Finchley Stations are both above ground and have a significant historic character. Our solutions are contemporary but use traditional materials to reflect the existing. At Finchley this is grey slate to acknowledge the adjacent station roofs. At Hendon the predominant material is a green glazed brick to reflect similar materials in the ticket hall and the platform colour scheme. We believe that the new interventions successfully complement the old in what could otherwise be overwhelming additions.
