We’ve worked closely with our client to deliver three barn conversions in 2019 and have now received full planning permission for the conversion and extension of the final agricultural building to form a single 4 bedroomed dwelling.
The fabric of the existing single storey masonry building will be enhanced, existing walls will be insulated, the existing asbestos roof will be removed and replaced with a reclaimed pan tile roof to compliment the neighbouring barn. The extension will be constructed from off site structurally insulated panels and clad externally with vertical black timber. The extension roof will be black zinc providing a clear distinction between the existing building and its new addition. Large areas of glazing will allow daylight to flood the living spaces and provide views of the surrounding farmland.
Internally the house will have underfloor heating throughout and will adopt a rubust palette of prefinished materials. Concrete floors are paired with exposed brick and joinery of birch ply.
Situated in just under an acre the conversion embraces the rural setting and creates a connection with the ever changing landscape. The new gardens will enhance the existing mature trees and hedgerow introducing an orchard, formal lawns and a wildflower meadow. Numerous terraces will allow a variety of dining and relaxing areas to be enjoyed throughout the day.
