Hemel Crematorium Wins AJ Award!

We are delighted to share that on Tuesday night, Hemel Crematorium was awarded the AJ Award for Community and Faith Project 2024!

The judges praised the project as an ‘An uplifting’ scheme which provides a ‘sense of tranquillity’ with ‘A continuity of language and robust materiality unites this project.’

‘The design makes what is a very difficult experience for everyone a bit more elevated,’

Embedded in the ‘exceptional’ landscaping, Hemel Crematorium provides a chapel for 140 people alongside space for congregation, crematory, administration, staff, and wider site memorial. The building’s geometric roof covers each of these functions, with its impressive timber frame, exposed internal, to lend warmth and character to the main chapel space.

We are thrilled by the recognition from the AJ Judges and are immensely proud of this project and the team involved in delivering it.
