Hemel Crematorium shortlisted for AJ Award!
We are thrilled to announce that our project, Hemel Crematorium, has been shortlisted as a Finalist for the AJ Awards in the Community and Faith Project Category!
Faced with the rising demand for cremations, Watford Borough Council entrusted Haverstock to deliver a contemporary and sensitive solution for a new provision that could accommodate modern grieving practices. Our focused design creates a tranquil environment with a considered layout that guides mourners on an intimate journey through reflective rooms.
Embedded in beautifully landscaped gardens, meadows, and woodlands, the crematorium provides peaceful memorial spaces. Our design ensures clear circulation routes that offer privacy for visitors and an efficient flow for staff, while the asymmetric chapel layout fosters an intimate setting for all services. The protected views and natural light were integral to our vision of enhancing the serene atmosphere.
With a capacity of 140, Haverstock’s design meets the local community’s needs, offering a dignified and contemplative space that serves as a lasting tribute to those who visit.
